Support and Love for All

Introduction
The biggest piece of advice I would give to high school students is to choose wisely. Research the most you can about your intended school. Decide the environment you want to be in, decide the amount of studetns. A student who doesn't want to live in a big city, or near the ocean shouldn't come to ODU.

Campus Life and Social Life
The best social life on campus is when the different organizations host parties in the student union. They are safe, cheap to get in and are also a lot of fun. Basketball games are also a highlight of the year. Most weekends around campus are laid back. Most people hang around in the dorm, or go out to the mall. Students like to really relax on the weekend, after a long week of classes. Advertisement
Academics
ODU's academics are excellent. The programs on this campus are very structured and all about the student. The best program I believe on campus is the science program. All science classes are very difficult but they give you knowledge that no other program will give you. The professors are great as well. They are there for the student, they want us to succeed. The TA's are also very helpful and important in big lecture classes. The workload at ODU, like any university, is difficult. Some classes give a lot of long term assignments, and some classes don't. It depends on your major and your teachers.

Student Body
The "typical" student at ODU is very outgoing, very bright. Students here want to learn and have the drive to do so. Students at ODU love it here, they support ODU in everything. The campus is very diverse. Students from all over the world are here. Many times walking on campus you pass different people that are carrying on a conversation in a totally different language than your own. It is safe to say that you can't get that on many college campuses.

In Closing...
I believe ODU is for those high school students looking for a down to earth college, with down to earth people, and a university president who loves her job and loves her "children". ODU is a big beautiful campus with support, and love that every high school student looks for in college.
