Great frats - huge school

Rating: 1/5 (91 ratings)
Introduction
It’s a really big school – it took me I guess a month to really get used to everything. Everything is within walking distance and they have the buses if you don’t feel like walking. There’s a lot of gym rats here like a lot of people that hang out – real athletic people, you have to be like a drinker – it’s probably like 90% of the students here go out and get drunk every night.

Campus Life and Social Life
For freshman, I think the frat scene is the biggest and you get to sophomore it gets more towards apartment parties and then like every one turns 21 and then goes to the bar scene. I guess it’s kind of how it progresses. Frats are always pitch black rooms upstairs where everyone’s dancing with the DJ and downstairs you have the bar where you have to beg for beer and girls get as many as they want.

Academics
You never really get personal attention from the professor but you always get some with the TAs maybe during recitation. That was kind of an adjustment for me because you get these classes, they don’t take attendance and you’re expected to learn the material on your own. A lot of the engineering TA’s are foreign, they barely speak English.

Student Body
As a freshman I mean you have to be outgoing to just like make friends just to get used to the atmosphere so you’re going through the same thing with same people. If you’re not then you’re going to be struggling – you’re going to be feeling like on your own a lot. The dorms are like little communities and they've got the quad areas, where everyone hangs out at like 4 in the morning. The dorm rooms are pretty small and cramped but you get used to it. You’re just hanging there to sleep anyway. And they always have the commons right next to them where you can get your groceries; and you can go eat cafeteria food.

In Closing...
If you’re not a football fan, you don’t belong at Penn State. There’s so much pride. If you look downtown it just like every other store is like Blue and White. You go in there and there’s nothing but like Penn State hoodies, Penn State hats.
