WE ARE... PENN STATE!

Rating: 5/5 (18 ratings)
Introduction
University Park has truely earned the name, Happy Valley. The people here are amazing. It is a totally differant atmosphere than anything you are used to. You are just thrown into this realm of intense academia, crazy parties, great friends, hott guys and girls, football and school spirit. It is like heaven and every dime of the tuition paid is so worth it. You will make friends for life here. Even anti-social people get into socializing with other anti-social people. There is something for everyone. It can be intimidating at first, but after a week - it becomes home and going back home home seems to be far from your mind. It's easy to get caught up in the social life with all the sports events and parties, but you learn to balance. And if you're not a partier or a drinker it's no big deal. Straight Edge kids have just as much fun and have their own raging parties and get togethers that they seem to be happy with.

Campus Life and Social Life
The stadiums are ALWAYS packed. If you don't love sports or you can't even pretend to be into the School spirit then this may not be the place for you, although I tend to think Penn State is the place for everyone. There are over 100 clubs! There are clubs for almost anything and everything you can think of. You can meet ALOT of great people with similiar interests at clubs and It is a great way to get involved on campus. The dorms may be small compared to your rooms at home, but compared to other schools who give students closets to live in, we live in luxury. The partying to some standards may be considered out of control, but most students know when it's time to party and when it is time to get down to business. We definitely work hard and party harder!
Academics
I haven't had much experience with TAs and from what I am told we don't have nearly as many TAs as other colleges do. You will always find a professor you don't like or can't stand looking at or one that has unpassable tests. But for the most part Penn State has quality professors who know what they are talking about. Ratemyprofessor.com is a very useful tool for scheduling classes. The workload is not killer, but it can be if you make it killer! Penn State is the perfect balance of academics and everything great!

Student Body
There is no typical Student. Everyone is different and brings something differant to the table. There are students of all differant religions, races, sizes, and colors. There are a ton of international students. And Many Many athletes. There are quite a many students from Jersey, NY, Maryland and Deleware. The best students are the ones that come from states like Michigan and Ohio and realize that Penn State rocks so much harder than ANY school in their home state.

In Closing...
We have the largest number of living Alum for a Reason. Few can resist Penn State and those who do resist, regret! Joepa is the man. Penn State paraphanalia becomes your life. You find yourself randomly breaking out in Penn State songs. Penn State is rated in the top 20 for almost all majors! Everyone is happy and friendly which makes everyone look prettier. Penn State is the place to be if you want to have a good time, get a good education, feel free and yet make a differance. Take a visit to good 'ol State College, If you don't like it you are probably insane!
