Beautiful Campus
IntroductionThere's a feeling of awe you get: when you come and look at these ancient buildings and this gothic architecture. It a sense of place you know, a sense of you’re in this great learning establishment and its – its impressive and a little intimidating at first but once you get here you apart of it and I think that’s a really valuable thing.
Campus Life and Social LifeWhen you get to Princeton, they randomly assign you to one of 5 residential colleges, there’s Rocky, Maddy. Wilson, Butler and Forbes. And it’s pretty much just random. I guess I was lucky enough to be in Rocky which is one of the Gothic dorms and you’re assigned to your roommate randomly. There are some forms you fill out to say what kind of roommate you’d like or if you want a single or a big suite – but I think its pretty much luck. I’ve been lucky enough to have pretty palacial dorms at Princeton – a lot of room a lot of privacy. Just you know, its sort of luck of the draw – when you’re a sophomore you can draw in – but again most of the good rooms go at the beginning so again its luck where you get put.
AcademicsEnglish is a great department – we have just fantastic professors who have written the book on all sorts of genre things in literature – and one of the things I’ve noticed about them was how open they are, how friendly they are. Like when I was in high school, I went to a public high school and you know, talking to the teachers a little bit, iffy, you know you really didn’t want to do it but, they really got me to start opening up and start talking to them more – I think that – that may be something private school kids have over public school kids that they’re used to talking to the professors or their teachers more 1 on 1 but everyone in the English department is just friendly and open and funny.
Student BodyNassau Street is, it’s convenient, you can get what you want there from the pharmacy or from Banana Republic or J Crew, but you know not many people go to town for any solid reasons. There’s a lot of great restaurants there – but its really quiet. It’s a really small town most of the campus life, most of the activity, 95% of it is all seated right in Princeton. It’s nice they bring a lot of stuff to you. You’re never bored here.
