Good things come in small packages

Rating: 5/5 (36 ratings)
Introduction
I think our size makes a difference dramatically – because of the fact that we are the smallest Ivy league school there’s a much greater sense of community here and everyone lives on campus and it has a much different feel in that sense than say Columbia or Harvard where people are scattered all over the place. I think, compared to a few of the other Ivy league schools, I mean it’s obviously very hard – my advice would be if you’re gonna apply and you want to get in, pick a couple of things and really get into them they are very good at recognizing who the kids are who did things just to put them on their resumes whereas they really enjoy the kids who pick a few things say a sport or a club or an activity and focus on those and show a genuine interest in it.

Campus Life and Social Life
The transition was more seamless than I imagined because if partly I think because of cell phones and internet and everything you stay connected with people much more easily than say 10 years ago. Generally the people seem to be significantly different than I am used to. There’s a much faster paced life style – I don’t know if it’s just around Princeton or the East Coast in general.
The typical student here is generally very serious maybe a little more serious than I would like. They’re all very organized and they do everything as if they’re competing – weather it be you know from schoolwork to drinking it’s always there focused on doing the best at whatever they’re doing at that moment.
Academics
I originally came here wanting to be an engineer. What they don’t tell you about becoming an engineer is that it’s much harder than all of the other and I majors the great thing about Princeton is you don’t decided pretty quickly it wasn’t for me so I transferred into economics and I love it – the great thing about Princeton is you don’t have to take that many classes in your majors – they really stress it being a liberal arts institution so you know I’m taking economics classes but I’m also taking the majority of my classes in other subjects which I think is a great aspect of the education.

Student Body
Generally the Profs are much more accessible than you would think. A great number of students think you know because they’re such a famous professor that they’re inaccessible but if you tried you found that you can go to their office hours or ask them you know to go to lunch or something and their almost always willing.
