A Room of Her Own

Rating: 2/5 (41 ratings)
Introduction
I live in Vodder hall, which is a part of the Windsor complex. It is still the only all female dorm, which I really like, actually. You don’t have to worry about guys just randomly wondering around which is really nice. We do have really strict escort policies though – the gentleman are not allowed anywhere without a female escort. If they have to come down to the bathroom, there has to be a female right there with them the entire time.

Campus Life and Social Life
You’re not allowed to have guests after 11 pm on weeknights – the entire weekend they’re allowed to stay whenever they want, which is kind of cool because then people can come up and visit you. I really like it compared to the other dorms.

Academics
A lot of my friends live in the co-ed dorms and they just have guys or girls wandering around randomly. I just think it’s really awkward – because you can’t just walk around and be totally comfortable without worrying about – you know – if someone’s going to walk in on you or something so. I really like the all-female dorms. Maybe I’m old fashioned but.

Student Body
It’s pretty fabulous – it’s about 3 to 1, guy to girl ratio – which is definitely a plus if you’re trying to promote the school. Definitely a plus for the females! The guys are – the ones that I’ve noticed - are pretty cute, you know? I enjoy watching them, pretty much...

In Closing...
The hospitality and tourism management – it’s the #1 program in the nation, very proud of that. It basically is just preparing us to either go into food service, lodging or tourism. I’m pretty much going into lodging right now, I’m not focusing on tourism or food service at all. The classes are a lot of fun because you just get to sit there and talk about different hotels and the new things that are coming up in the hotels – we get to hear a lot about when new bedding is coming or something like that before anyone else gets to – which is really neat. We have a lot of the different hotel industries come in and talk to us. We had Disney come in a little bit ago that was a lot of fun – so it’s just a really interesting field to go into if you really like people and you really like an exciting major – something that just keeps you on your toes all the time.
