Introduction
I transferred to Purdue from another university for a lot of reasons, but mainly so I could be closer to my family. I also wanted a big state school atmosphere. Purdue is the kind of school where everyone can find a place to fit in, because there are tons of people, and lots of clubs and activities to join.

Campus Life and Social Life
I met the best friends I've ever had at Purdue through a club I was a part of...I did the sorority thing too, but it wasn't for me; however, if you want to be involved in Greek life, there are certainly tons of opportunities to do so. Although I don't consider myself a huge party-goer, I did my fair share of weekend partying at Purdue, either at the bars, fraternity houses, or house parties. West Lafayette is your typical college town, some great unique places to eat (Boiler Market, El Rodeo, AJ Wingers), and some fun "hole-in-wall" bars (Harry's, Where Else?, Brothers)- the point is there is always someplace to go. As a sports fan, being a part of Big 10 sports was a major highlight for me- football games are a blast, and school spirit is high.

Academics
I had a major in Political Science and minor in Dance...both departments were great for me. While Purdue is NOT known for their liberal arts education, I had some challenging professors and courses in Political Science. The general education classes kinda suck because there are usually 300-500 people in your course, so those lectures can get boring...but that usually only lasts for freshmen year, so after that, course sizes are reasonable (30-50). I would say I had a light workload compared to some of the other students at Purdue, but I studied/did homework about an hour or so a night.

Student Body
A lot of Purdue students are from Indiana, however there are also a lot from the Chicago area. Because the school is so big, there is a lot of diversity- you will see the Indiana farm boy, super sorority girl, ghetto superstar, science geeks, etc. There is no "in" crowd like there always is in high school. You will find people who are into the same things you are, and you will find a lot of people who aren't. I loved that about Purdue!

In Closing...
I am a loyal Purdue alumni- I would recommend the school to anyone! It was the best years of my life!
