Golden Diploma
IntroductionIt’s a college town. West Lafayette is really what you make of it – you can sit your dorm room on the weekend and it can be a dull place or you can go out with your friends, have fun on the weekends and party and stuff like that and it’s a great place to be.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe Greek system here is pretty big compared to other schools and we have 41 different Fraternities and stuff like that which is you know a huge amount and you know it has so many different pluses for you know – camaraderie with all the brothers in the Fraternity and there’s always someone there to help you – someone to talk to and some of my best friends here in college are in the Fraternity with me.
AcademicsThe only draw back to being in the fraternity is just some of my friends in the dorms – it’s kind of like – I don’t want to say I ditch them on the weekends but it’s kind of like I go and hang out with my fraternity guys on the weekend and I see them on the weekdays type of a thing and I just see them on nights and stuff like that.
Student BodyI don’t see that big of a division between Greek and non-Greek people, I mean, because if you’re not Greek all you have to do is ask someone who is that you know and they can get you on a party list or you know or they can hang out with you so there really isn’t that big of a difference I guess.
In Closing...The engineering school is great – it’s just one of the things that you hear about. I have family members that have come through the school so I heard about it from them and one of the big things that you talk about when you’re going through this school is that it’s like a gold diploma because businesses will just see Purdue on your diploma and they’ll want to give you jobs.
