Great School for Success-Oriented People
Rating: 1.5/5 (4 ratings)
IntroductionThe main reasons I chose Rhodes were the people I met as a prospective student and the feel of the campus in general. The campus pretty much speaks for itself. The people I met while visiting were warm, welcoming, and friendly. Now that I'm a student, I've discovered that there isn't much of a social hierarchy here. People just generally get along with each other, which is great. What I didn't realize before I got here was how much I'd enjoy the size of the school. It's small enough to know your professors and classmates, but big enough to meet someone new all the time.
Campus Life and Social LifeI think the best word to describe Rhodes social life is laid-back. Although 50% of students are Greek, the Greek life is pretty relaxed and doesn't discriminate against non-Greeks. On any given weekend, I'd say most students will spend one night on campus and the other night off campus. I think there's a really nice balance here between work and play. As a result, Rhodes isn't a huge party school, but that doesn't mean the students here don't know how to have a good time.

AcademicsProbably the most remarkable aspect of Rhodes is the class size. With an average class size of 13 students, you really get to know your professors. As a result, you feel really comfortable asking questions or going to their office for help or just to chat about things. The workload is pretty steady, and you'll have homework nearly every weeknight, but few classes are over the top on coursework.
Student BodyI really like the student body here. It seems like pretty much everyone here wants to succeed. Everyone wants to do well in class, on the athletic field, in student organizations, etc. Whenever you have a group of success-oriented people together, it's a pretty pleasant environment. Like I said before, people here are welcoming and fairly outgoing, so you make new friends all the time.
In Closing...I've really enjoyed my decision to come to Rhodes. It's a competitive, challenging school where I've met some great people. It's a great place for any driven, success-oriented person.
