Introduction
I'm in the RIT film school. It's a pretty solid program with neat shiny equipment. You're immersed in the film making process right away, and that's just swell. That said some of the teachers get old after a while and the neat equipment is accompanied by outdated equipment and facilities in poor repair. All in all I'm happy with my four years, but I'm also ready to leave.

Campus Life and Social Life
RIT is, technically, a dry campus. That doesn't stop people from drinking, of course, but expect folks near and dear to you, maybe even you, to get busted. There's usually no problem finding something to do on campus or off. There's a Greek life I've completely avoided because it's...well, Greek Life. No football team here, either. So that's a bummer. We've got Division I hockey, though. The dorms are small and overpopulated. Expect a lot of socially challenged people, too. All that aside, there are cool folks around, some enjoyable engineers and the art kids are fun if you're into hipsterism. Or can tolerate pretension.

Academics
Art school is cool. Lots of freedom to do stuff and experiment in the various media offered there. The professors are able and understanding. Of course there are a couple of windbags and one or two who are firmly entrenched in their ideals. You can win them over, but it takes some work. Expect a swamped final week in every quarter, but also expect to not have finals during the Finals Week. This only applies to art students, everyone else gets finals.
Oh, right. RIT is on a quarterly system. Fall, winter, spring, summer. Each quarter is 10 weeks followed by an 11th or "Finals" week. You don't have to go in the summer, but the option is there should you choose to take it.

Student Body
The majority of the students are male and from New York. There's an infamous "ratio" here of 7 guys to 3 girls. In the art schools its much closer to 50/50 and the girls are less likely to be
Jesus-freaky/goth or complete unwashed nerds. There's a lot of anime on campus, there's a socialism group. The typical student here is the same as a typical student at any tech school, I imagine.

In Closing...
RIT's not bad. But it's boring. The brick buildings are cool at first but I'd like some diversity in the structures here. You know RIT has it's own brick color? Yeah. Same with the food. Not bad, but it's always the same. You can only have chicken fingers so many times before you get disgusted.
