The Country Club
IntroductionRollins College is defintiely not for everyone. The campus is really nice and is one of the best parts of the college. For anyone looking into Rollins take a visit and get to know the kids. I chose Rollins because I didn't want a big school and I wanted to know everyone. Rollins is perfect for someone who desires a small school setting with a big school party mentality. If you like big sporting events and school spirit Rollins isnt the place for you.
Campus Life and Social LifeAt Rollins eveyone knows everyone, or knows of everyone. This can be good and bad. Unlike larger schools, you get to know your class personally and connect with a wide range of kids. This is also a down side because there is a "high school" feel to the campus and social life. People exchange rumors and gossip is common. The parties are amazing, from the first week on, you get a taste of a true college party scene. Sports are not important to the students and attendance to games is rare. The weekends are filled with long days at the pool and recovering from the night before.
AcademicsRollins College provides a great education along with it's party school reputation. The classes are personal and you really get to know your professors. Professors are fair and understanding. The class room setting is much like high school with an average of about 12 to 25 in a class. Attendance is taken in every class, which can be a problem but overall helps to get the motivation to go to class. The workload is that of a prestigious high school with about 1-3 hours of work a night. There is A LOT of writing and papers, more than most schools.
Student BodyThe typical student at Rollins is white and mid to upperclass. There is a lot of wealth at Rollins and many people care alot about style and dress. There are a lot of students from the Northeast and Florida. The kids are into the partying and having a good time and everyone seems to get along. Greek life is common and dominates the nightlife on campus.
In Closing...Rollins is a great school and a perfect environment for college. Winter Park is pretty and offers a lot of things to do. Orlando is truly a GREAT college town and Rollins fits in perfectly. For a small school Rollins can offer a big school party scene and first class education.
