Good Deal for New Jersey Residents

Rating: 3/5 (31 ratings)
Introduction
I chose Rutgers because I did not want to go out of state mostly for financial reasons and out of the New Jersey schools I liked it the best. Like any other school the food isnt that great but they have some good academic programs and if you are interested in graduate study this is a good place for you to come and do some undergraduate research to help in that process. A student who wants small classes and is afraid of a big school shouldnt come to Rutgers.

Campus Life and Social Life
The best part of social life here at Rutgers is that there are plenty of clubs and bars in the area that cater to the Rutgers students. Campus life to me is great. Plenty of freedom and not to many rules. Depending on what campus you choose to live on or what college you go to your weekends might be different. The campus is usually empty because everyone goes home on friday or saturday. Rutgers weekends start Thursday night! As for clubs if you dont think they have something that interests you, you can start your own club and they will give you money to do so.

Academics
You get some professors that care and some you wonder what school gave them their degrees. I think the education department is good because you can get a masters in 5 years. My major the psych department is good too especially since most of the professors are doing research of their own and often need some extra help.

Student Body
The typical Rutgers student wants to get good grades with minimal work. They want to be able to get to know their professors and be able to go out on Thursday and not have to worry about having a Friday class. Most of the students here are polite and open-minded. But like in any place you will run into someone who is angry with the world or just having a bad day.

In Closing...
Rutgers is a good school for in state students who really dont want to go to far but still want that big college/university experience.
