Even the Squirrels Wear Black
IntroductionIt's very close to the city, so if you like that, definitely apply. But I would recommend you definitely visit first to get a feel of what it is like. I chose this school because it has the number one undergraduate writing program in the country. If you like being in a big city, stay away - we're close enough to go in to the city once or twice a week, but remember we are not IN New York.
Campus Life and Social LifeThis is not a party school, but we do have a few crazy parties for which we are famous (where people only wear small amounts of cloth to cover their genitals...). There is a very scarce social scene, but one eventually makes friends and there are a lot of easygoing people, eager to help you out and make more friends. Since the school is so small, everyone knows eachother in one way or another...but people often look the other way.

AcademicsThe education is extremely specialized; you have a lot of one-on-one contact with your professors and classes are small (seminars include anywhere from five to fifteen people), giving the students more of a chance to ask questions and get help. No TAs teach classes, they are all taught by actual professors, usually highly qualified ones at that.
Student BodyThere is very little diversity (it's a lot of rich white girls) at this school. Also, put together all the weird and artsy people from your high school and that's SLC...everyone is awkward.
In Closing...If you come here, you will meet very, very interesting people and have great relationships with your professors. The name Sarah Lawrence is also viewed highly in artistic circles. Everyone who comes here considers transferring out at least once, but it often grows on people and the students who stay end up loving it and grateful they stayed.
*SLC is not for everyone.
