If you can get in, GO
IntroductionI chose Smith because it is a very good school -- you'd better be smart and you'd better be ready to work hard. Otherwise, you're toast. Make sure you have taken many college-prep classes -- you have to hit the ground running -- as there is no "coddling" period. Know how to write a thoughtful paper, since you will be writing a lot of them. Even if you were the smartest girl in your high school, you may feel a little overwhelmed here. *Every* girl here was the smartest girl at their high school.
Campus Life and Social LifeI was a heavy partier while I was at Smith -- there is always SOMETHING going on. Live in the Quad for the best parties and invites -- and don't worry about the "single-sex" campus. Guys come in by the busload on weekends. If you have a car and a designated driver, even better! If you are not a "partier," live on Green Street - It's much quieter and geared towards more studious girls.

AcademicsAcademics: think LOTS OF HOMEWORK. LOTS. Profs don't take any shit, either. Do it or fail. Constant papers, and midterm and finals are grim. Not a lot of smiles on campus. However, I could always get in touch with a professor - good office hours. Willing to work with you. The library system is GREAT and they are very good about getting you a book that they don't have. Please check out the Smith College Museum of Art before you graduate.
Student BodyThe students here are mostly white, WASP-y girls, but it's getting more diverse. People like to say it is a "dyke" campus -- but this aspect is totally overblown.
In Closing...A degree from Smith is the golden ticket into any upper-crust function/company. Good alumni networking. Highly respected.
