Athletics here rock
IntroductionI think there’s a huge misconception about the diversity or lack there of it at Stanford. And that the Univ. actually prides itself on its diversity in terms of race, ethnicity, socio-economic background, geographic locale in the U.S. International students, and the fact that all these students come from such a variety of backgrounds really contributes to a real richness in the student population.
Campus Life and Social LifeThis campus, is GORGEOUS. It is simply stunning. We walk outside everyday, look up, not a cloud in the sky, California sunshine, everyone’s happy because, how could you be in a bad mood in this weather. I think it’s beautiful, I could ask for a better place to go to school. It’s not sunny all the time, and to be honest as a Southern Californian, I find the winter’s a little chilly.

AcademicsI’m studying psychology here. And Stanford actually has the strongest psych program in the United States and I’ve been blessed with amazing professors and amazing research opportunities here. I think that’s one great aspect of Stanford is that due to it’s size it’s esp. conducive to getting one on one with professors and doing research. I have loved my courses. And as you progress in your years at Stanford, you take more seminar courses where it’s just a few students and a professor. And it’s largely based in discussion. And there are really incredible courses and incredible people to learn from.
Student BodyI think that the body of students at Stanford is just a wonderfully rich group of people. Like they spent a year in Africa studying AIDS and working with Orphans and stuff.
In Closing...Stanford has an incredible athletic program. A lot of the social scene is centered around athletics, sporting events…Our football team- We love them. There’s just a lot of excellence in all sorts of different sports and I think it breeds a lot of school spirit. We have a crazy band, I don’t know if you’ve heard of the Stanford marching band and they’re really out there but they’re always there with the sporting events too and the dallies. And it really does breed a lot of school spirit.
