IntroductionI chose this school based on size, price and classes. I think it's a perfect size, not too big but not too small. You get the feel of a big school at times but are able to have many small classes as well. It is easy to be in touch with professors/TA's as well because of this. I would tell people who don't want a big campus not to come here and who want a campus that is very close-knit in terms of dorming and such.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe best part of the social life is that we have a variety of things to do. There are various parties, whether fraternity or otherwise, as well as a good bar scene. The worst part is that nothing is on campus and you have to take cabs everywhere, although they are inexpensive. There is also transportation by means of buses virtually anywhere you need to go, and this is completely free, which is a great aspect. People here really go by the whole "work hard, play hard" motto, because that's just what we do.

AcademicsI haven't found a bad department here. I find the academics are great here. The workload is intense at times, but the professors are intelligent and knowledgeable on the coursework. The TA's are usually well informed on the subject matter they are teaching, as they are graduate students working on this course material. The grading is sometimes iffy, especially with curves, and you might actually wind up doing worse than you think because of this, which really stinks. Overall it all works out somehow. The academic reputation is excellent.
Student BodyMost of the students come from New York State and the tri-state area. The kids here are all very different. You will have your typical preppy kids to your artsy types. They are all different, the diversity here is great and it really makes it interesting. Everyone seems to be really intelligent too, which makes me feel good about going here.
In Closing...Binghamton is definitely 100% worth it, and plus, in 4 years you'll be laughing at everyone else who has huge debts and saying "I did the SAME stuff in college for a lot less money and probably at a better school too." =)
