The best decision I've ever made!
IntroductionBinghamton University is the perfect school for a student looking for all the benefits, offerings and opportunities of a large school, with the personality and feel of a small school. You'll find many opportunities to get involved, do research, study abroad, go to the division one basketball games and other activities you would expect from a large research institution, but at the same time, enjoy small classes, personal professors, individual attention, great students, and never feel like a number. Binghamton is not the right place for someone who is unwilling to broaden their prospective and enjoy the exposure to a wide range of diversity on many levels.
Campus Life and Social LifeBinghamton truly has a lot to do. On the weekends, you can enjoy LateNite Binghamton, a totally free, totally student run event that includes free movies, bowling, food, music, and more! Downtown is great too. Besides the active club and bar scenes, they have extensive art walks, and cultural events. Binghamton has a couple professional sports teams, a symphony, opera, and other aspects of a large city mashed into the mold and feel of a small city. Division one basketball games are always fun... we're known for our aggressive fan base, as we pack the stands and speak our mind!

AcademicsBinghamton has many programs ranked top 20 in the country, and is ranked highly all around. The Management, Psychology, Political Science and Anthropology departments get particularly rave reviews. The best part about the academics is that not only are you learning from the type of professors that write your textbooks, but also you get to spend individual time with them, participate in their research and grow an academic relationship outside of the classroom.
Student BodyThe key to a Binghamton student is that no individual is alike. You have students with family incomes measured in hundreds of thousands, to student making ten to maybe thirty thousand. You can find a student from almost every part of the New York, most any state, and almost 100 different countries. There will always be a little bit of cliquiness among these groups, but never animosity.
In Closing...Binghamton is the perfect school for someone who is looking for the kind of education you’d find at Cornell or NYU, without the negative pressures, financial obligations, and arrogant atmosphere.
