U can't Beat UB

Rating: 2.3/5 (25 ratings)
Introduction
People typically don't like UB if they have grown up pampered - given whatever they want by their parents and friends. UB has a tremendous number of activities, you just have to want to find the ones that are right for you. And, the area has plenty of activities, too. Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, quick border crossing to Canada, great history and architecture, casinos, Niagara Falls, Canadian brewed beer (more alcohol content than American beer) and the best damn chicken wings in the world!

Campus Life and Social Life
It's a big campus with some wide open spaces. You need to be willing to make an effort to get off of the campus to do stuff nearby, or go downtown. Plenty of parties, sports activities (both participatory and spectator), clubs and more. Weekends are what you make them. They can be dull (if that is the type of person you are) or you can experience culture, nature, history, etc. by just being a little adventurous.

Academics
There are easy courses and hard courses. You got to make the effort. Too many students just want to roll out of bed and hope the teacher lets you go early. Largest selection of programs and courses in the state system.

Student Body
All over New York State with a smattering of international and out-of-staters for the undergrads. More diversity among the graduate level.

In Closing...
Like anything else in life, it is what you make of it!
