Oswego

Introduction
It's probably one of the most beautiful campuses I ever visited while I was looking into colleges. I choose to come here because of the great business program and the great college environment. This college is for everyone because I was very shy and when I got here I lost it. If you don't friends at Oswego is because you are not trying. I don't know what my life would have been if I stayed home and commuted like I planned initially. Freshman make sure you come to Orientation you will have a blast it's not your typical orientation you get to have fun but your parents go the educational one.

Campus Life and Social Life
Like any college we have our frat parties and house parties but they aren't that big of a deal. There over 130 clubs on campus which offer a wide range of things to do. Every year the school plans concerts and events like this year they are brining OAR to Oswego but in the past they brought up Starting Line, Team Goldie, Hawthorne Heights, Bayside, Ghostface Killer, Trey Songz and countless others to Oswego. Sports we have an intramural department during warm months we have outdoor sports like baseball, football etc and in the winter we have indoor sports plus its free and open to anyone that is interested in playing. Weekends are dead until 12 pm when everyone is waking up the next day on Saturdays and on Sunday's its usually make up homework day everyone's glued to their computers doing homework all day. Were also close to a bunch of malls so all of people go to the malls on the weekend. Plus, we have a lot of new facilities on campus due recent renovation. We have a state of the art ice rink in the center of campus with a brand new student center opening in the fall.

Academics
In case you didn't know college isn't easy so don't expect it to be. Oswego is know for it's great programs in the business, communications, education and sciences. The business program is very competitive and don't expected to be easy they are really preparing you for the real world but at the end its really worth it. (Business program is measured by the success of its alumni which include Brian Sullivan (he's in jail because of Eron he didn't un ethical education from Oswego) VP of Marketing for MLB and Pepsi are graduates and visit the college often) Communication is well known because of its graduates Al Roker(Today Show), Steve Levy(Sport Center) and Linda Cohen(Sport Center) all graduates which also come up the college on special presentations. The great thing about the communications program is that you get to touch equipment as a freshman and giving you a feeling of what is going to be like when you graduate so your better prepared. The sciences are know because were one of the only schools that actually has a zoology program in New York state or even in the east coast. The School of Education produces enough graduates to actually have 2 Oswego grads in each school in the state of New York. The professors are actually great most of them give you their home phone numbers so that you can call them and they are very flexable on office hours they can work around your schedule. I truly believe we are receiving an Ivy League education at a lower price because some of them teach at Syracuse University and commute to Oswego to teach, but were paying much less then someone in Syracuse is paying for the same classes. The workload is low for the first year but as you take upper division expect more work, but that's expected the older you get the more work you have to do.

Student Body
The campus is very diverse you will meet people from all over. We have people that come from other states like California, Ohio etc even countries like Canada, China, France, UK just to study in Oswego. If you are big partier when pledging gets into progress parties then to be very limited instead of having 5 open parties you might be down to 2 parties a night. Oswego is VERY BIG ON HOCKEY so go at least one game so you can have an idea about the buzz. Plus, there a lot of crazy traditions because of hockey like bagel night and white outs (you'll learn more when you get to Oswego about the lingo) our rivals is Plattsburgh and those games get filled up quick so get your tickets a month ahead of them they are free by the way. There is a lot of bars in town there are over 50 bars in town which you an enjoy we have like 7 clubs in town if that isn't enough go to Syracuse. Join clubs that you enjoy because this leads to activities for example paintball club leads to paintball trips.

In Closing...
It doesn't really matter where you go is what you after you graduate. Just make sure you make the best out of everything. I love Oswego and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Make sure you go see the college avoid open houses since they are very crowded and you might not get the individual attention you need come during an individual appointment so that you can have a more personal experience. If you do get accepted you don't have to go Johnson Hall or Hart Hall and do work you can choose to live on the west campus which are Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga and Oneida they are great residence halls. If anything visit the web site its a great source for information www.oswego.edu
