Run Away
IntroductionAfter I was conned by mother to attend Stony Brook, I realized that I was in hell. Do not apply here unless you absolutely must for tuition reasons maybe. If you're a city girl like me, you will be miserable. If you're a Long Island rich kid who does nothing on the weekends but drugs, maybe you should come here. The campus is not so bad but could be better. Everything here is in reparation and you'll probably get to sue or something for a tractor that fell on your head.
Campus Life and Social LifeThere are some parties in people's dorms but there are so tiny that there is no point in attending. There are alot of clubs here but they managed to not have the one club I wanted to join, photography. There are no weekends here. Everyone goes to the city because that's where life is. Go Manhattan! My pride and joy.
AcademicsMaybe its just my opinion but the work here freshman year is pretty easy. All my classes have 300-500 students in them. There is no room for personal relationships with the teacher. A TA told me that by senior year my classes will be smaller....no more than 65...GREEAAAT!. The best time to get any personal help if you're having difficulty is from the TA's...who don't speak English...Joy!
Student BodyTwo words: Stuck up! If you're not in a fraternity or sorority, you will have no friends. If you're not from Long Island, you will have no friends. Maybe you'll make one or two friends in your dorm room (triples freshman year). Those will be your only friends. Most of the students went to school together in Long Island and went to college together so they don't have room for more friends.
In Closing...Don't apply... (Also it's not very safe. The ids are useless. I've never used it. My friend from the city comes to my classes all the time. What if he was a rapist???)
