COLD...
IntroductionBe ready for some serious cold. Lake effect snow and dark skies are the only thing you're gonna see most of the year at CUSE. If you can take that, you'll be ready for anything. Make sure you have some party outfits that adjust to the negative degrees outside and the sweaty temps in side a frat house basement. Adjusting is pretty easy; luckily, everyone is in the same boat you are when it comes to being away from home and getting to know new people, and SU's diversity help with this. Freshman classes were easy for me, so it eases you into things if you come in pretty well prepared. It can be hard to get used to New Englander's, especially if you're from a more southern hometown, but its nothing to stop your application over. If I did it all over again, I'd still apply and consider Syracuse.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe size is amazing; I think anyone can adjust to it. I graduated with only 47 students, and it doesnt seem big to me. I see plenty of my classmates and friends from the dorm when I walk from class to class. The parties are whatever you want them to be. You can have fun staying in or going out. SU did just crack down on the 'guest list policy' so make friends with frat boys so you can get your name on the list, because alot of them can be pretty serious about not letting you in, no matter how slutty the girls are dressed. It is also a big bar school, so if your looking for a serious good time, get a bus schedule for downtown and a fake ID. There are tons of clubs and ways to participate, and they are all pretty accesible. The Orange is life. You dont have to go, but why wouldn't you? The games are inside. The Carrier Dome is a good way to fight the seasonal depression problem under the bright lights during a cold winter day, cheering on the basketball team. Football this year was terrible, but we will regain our dignity next year, and basketball is going great. And if you're like me and enjoy lacrosse, SU will show you a good time.

AcademicsBest things: the teachers are really accessible, even in big classes. Class size is pretty good, its generally not too big, even for people used to smaller settings. Most of the TA's speak pretty good english, which can be a major issue at alot of schools, especially public univerisities. Some downsides are difficulty of classes and workload, but like any school it varies per major.
Student BodyMost of the students are good. I'm from Maryland and had some clashes with the people from Mass, Conn, and Staten Island, which is most of the students there, but they are all pretty nice. VERY PREPPY. Its like the Vanderbilt of the North. Girls try to wear cute little outfits when its below five, and end up with frostbite, but you all live and learn. SU advertises diversity, but this can be misleading, for the social and racial groups can be pretdy clique-y, so be ready for that. Typical students are generally nice and easy to get to know, but use the work 'wicked' way too much.
In Closing...Girls- own UGGS. They are always stylish in a place like SU, and they are a necessity in the cold! And try to live on South Campus as soon as you can, because the parties are amazing
