Hard work required
IntroductionI choose Syracuse because I like the entire campus. There are a lot of athletics here. When the teams are winning people show up at the games. The basketball team is pretty good, I had season tickets for that.
Campus Life and Social LifeYou can go to bars if you want at that. The bars are kind of lacking from time to time. You can find a house party usually. You have to seek it out or know where it is. Frat parties are few and far between for open parties. When it’s nice everyone is out on the quad, but those days are few and far between. It’ snowy and rainy a lot. My favorite thing about Syracuse is when it is nice outside like today. Everybody is outside and it’s an explosion of people you haven’t seen before. You see all your friends playing Frisbee and soccer. When the weather is nice this is a great place to be.
AcademicsElementary Ed is a pretty strenuous program. There are a lot of requirements, pretty set in stone. I don’t usually get to choose what class I want to take. The main part about the program is that we have a lot of teaching experience time, which a lot of schools, don’t have. So we are required to get up everyday at 8 to go to schools at like 8:30. At first you teach half days and then you teach full days. It’s a lot of work, it’s really almost a full time job. You have to put in a lot of time. The professors are very involved. They are there for us when we run into difficulties
Student BodyThe girls here are mixed. A lot of them are the same. There are a lot of sorority girls. There are definitely a lot of good looking girls here. Hooking up is more prevalent than dating. It’s pretty easy. Everyone is in college and sort of the same mind set.
Joining a fraternity is definitely something I am glad I did and would do it again.
In Closing...My least favorite thing is the weather and the snow. This is kind of a dreary place to be in the winter. It’s very cold and it seems like it’s almost always snowing. I wish I had known that the weather was so bad. I know I keep saying that but it’s that bad.
I also wish I had known about landlords. Be careful of who you landlord is. Mine doesn’t do anything for us.
I would say start off with an open mind when first taking classes. You have time to figure out exactly what you want to concentrate on.
