Posh totty but no slackers
IntroductionA lot of people here do internships all over the country in the summer. The city is the ghetto. If you have a car you can go the downtown area like armory square. That’s a really nice place to be. But right around campus you can’t walk anywhere. They offer intramural sports. The gym is always open for activities. They always have concerts come. You get snow in October until April. It’s like 5,7 inches at time. It goes below 0 temperatures. It’s cold.
Campus Life and Social LifeI usually met people at classes or through parties. There are really nice people here. After you find your group it’s a great atmosphere. The dating scene is mostly hookups.
There’s usually a party every night of the week. Sometimes we’ll just get together to have some drinks and have some fun. Greek life is really selective here. There are not that many frats compared to back home. Usually people go drink at the bars. Go watch a movie every once in a while. Usually just parties and drinking. The campus is old and there is a lot of history behind it.
AcademicsThe classes require a lot of studying. My engineering teacher says, you are in class for 3 hours, you should be studying for 3 hours a day out of class. I study about 5 hours a week.
The small classes are pretty hands on and the professor knows you’re name, but in the big classes you’re only a number. The professors always offer help to you. You just knock on their door and they are there for you. They really care about your education.
I’m a slacker and it’s hard for me to get by. Even if I miss one day of class it’s hard to stay on top of things because they build up. You have a lot of reading to do. You have to be on top of your work.
Student BodyI think Syracuse is very secluded. I don’t see that many minorities here. You can’t get a major in any Asian languages. I see lot of people just hanging out with their own groups. Some people intermix with races though.
Kids are really into themselves and how they look and stuff. Even on nice days they dress up. When finals and mid-terms come around, the people with the pajamas and the sweats come out. It’s a different world. I like the people here. They are nice and friendly. If it wasn’t for the people I would be out of here. The community here is great.
In Closing...Orange Day is the day that the school was established. That’s the most unique day here. Everybody goes crazy about it and wears orange stuff.
Even people who are not into sports when it comes to NCAA basketball we are all routing for them. Sport is a big thing here. Going to the Carrier Dome, having about 40,000 people there. Wow.
If you are going to come here be ready for the winter. You’ll have a lot of fun here. You’ll have you hard times, but that’s like any other place. Here you’ll grow a lot of good friendships and memories.
