The Real Scoop

Rating: 3/5 (83 ratings)
Introduction
Great opportunities are probably accessible at most Universities, and Syracuse is no exception. Opportunites are endless to have a great time, prepare yourself for the work force in the future, and build a great network of friends in the process. It does get fairly cold, but most of the bad reputation comes from the distant past. Most recently, the winters have been managable. Take it from me, I've lived in Syracuse for 12 years. But there are indeed four seasons in our calendar year, and winter makes it's presence known every year.

Campus Life and Social Life
Greek Life is phenominal, and I have yet to join one. Parties are great weather permitting, descent when the wheather is nasty. Very wide variety of people to choose hang out buddies from. Although the campus is mostly white, I've had no problems making plenty of friends amongst my black and hispanic crowds. Majority of the white students are great, some are the rich snobby type. Many international students as well. Great basketball team, wonderful times pre partying for games, undescribable times in the dome...Let's Go Orange!!!!!
Academics
Many top ranked academic programs in the nation, including Newhouse for
(#1 communication, broadcast journalism), Maxwell for (Top 5 public policy) IST (# 1 Information Mngmt. & Technology) ect...... Work load is doable depending on your concentration, if you want any sort of social life, stay away from Engineering & Architecture..You'll spend your entire college experience in the studio, and the computer lab..

Student Body
Students really come from all over...Tons of kids come from NYC and the tri state area, Boston area, and as far as Cali...Also from many different countries.

In Closing...
SU is great. I honestly grew up my entire life wanting to get away from the city of Syracuse. Circumstances permitted me to stay and SU was the best thing that has ever happened to me. The people are wonderful, opportunities are endless, paries are great @ times (weather permitting) and the professors are incredible.. The weather, not so much.. But it's not that big of a deal and you honestly work around it.. SU all day, everyday...holla but don't scream!!
Let's Go Orange!!!!!
