A tradition in excellence
IntroductionI chose Texas A & M because of the atmosphere. Although we have 45,000 students it feels like we are a small campus. Everyone is extremely friendly. My biggest piece of advice would be: get involved in organizations that give you a base of friends so you don't end up feeling like you know no one. Students that are looking for a university that feels and actually is small should definitely stay away from A & M.
Campus Life and Social LifeTo me, there is something for everyone on the social life front. There are definitely parties going on pretty much anytime you wanna go to one. There's also the bars on Northgate. Those are really popular on the weekends and just in general. As for sports, there is always some sporting event to go to. Our sports have a lot of emphasis on A & M tradition. Our fans are what drives our athletes to compete. Weekends can be crazy, but for the most part they are what you want them to be.

AcademicsA & M's academics are pretty good. Our engineering department is one of the best in the nation. Due to the location of George Bush Sr.'s presidential library, Political Science and Economics are both very good. Also, our business school is one of the best in the nation. There is a wide range of types of professors. You have some that are really good and some that are really bad. If you are in a huge lecture class, then typically your professor won't know your name. But that is just a fact of life. TAs can be good, if you get one that speaks fluent english. Ive had quite a few TAs that I didnt even bother going to see for help because i couldn't understand what they were trying to say. Workload depends on what classes you are taking. As a freshmen or a sophmore, your workload could be light because you are taking general classes that everyone has to take. It could be heavy, it also depends on your major. Engineering students have to bust their butts from the get go. Whereas other majors might only get harder after several years.
Student BodyA & M has all kinds of students. I would say the typical student loves A & M sports, is pretty social, and friendly. I do think its pretty hard to tell what a "typical" student is. Most of the students at A & M are from Texas, but there are students here from all over the world. I would say most students are into sports, organizations, and partying.
