Introduction
I believe the lazy student should stay away from this school because there is no "getting by" like in high school and you must be very dedicated. This university is very challenging and it can by all means produce a Yale equivalent...but at the same time I met a cashier at K Mart that graduated class of 1983 and still wasn't a supervisor....please don't end up working at K Mart after graduating from such a great school as Texas A & M. Im not saying that K Mart is a bad place to work in general, just that compared to fellow graduates... K Mart is the bottom of the barrel.

Campus Life and Social Life
During the week it can be slow...but that is a good thing because you will get your work done and be able to party that much harder on the weekends... and in College Station the weekend starts a day early on Thursday! There are many great bars on NorthGate to party and dance at but it is difficult for underage drinkers. If you really want to party... connect with a frat or a buddy who is in a frat so that you will always have an eventful weekend. One thing I will say is that people here get married early...not necessarily because it's the South, but because the students know what they want and they are decisive, and more mature than most.

Academics
I am an engineering student so the workload is tremendous. The school has just recently been ranked 8th or 9th in the nation for its engineering program. If you want to major in liberal arts...maybe Austin is the place for you. In every class there are students that drop classes. Mainly becasue they sleep in the back of class and have no contact with their professor. The best thing to do is introduce yourself to your teacher the second or third day of class because everyone else does on the first day. Also, keep in touch with classmates as much as you do with your teacher.

Student Body
The typical student is quiet but outgoing, and probably wearing khaki shorts with a maroon t-shirt. The kids are from everywhere but mostly from the South.

In Closing...
They say letters of recommendation are not recquired or recommended but TRUST ME ..... send in about four strong letters from teachers, coaches, principals and so on and so forth.
