Possibly the best school ever?

Rating: 3/5 (84 ratings)
Introduction
Come visit the school to really get a feel for the people and atmosphere of Texas A&M. It is really one of the greatest places to be and I wouldn't go anywhere else if I could. If you are a liberal arts major, I would stay away from Texas A&M, but for engineering, agriculture, vet. , science and business its a great school. The only advice I would really give to high school students is to try and keep your grades up because admission to Texas A&M is not easy for the top majors.

Campus Life and Social Life
There is always a party somewhere in College Station, its just a matter of knowing where they are. Northgate is a blast and so is the hall. Fightin' Texas Aggie Football consumes Saturdays in the fall at Texas A&M. Midnight Yell is a great tradition that is a ton of fun. I'm not even going to atempt to describe all the traditions that we have here at Texas A&M.

Academics
I am an Aerospace Engineering major so the majority of my experience has been in the Engineering department. The Engineering school is great but VERY hard. The workload is intense, and about 50% of the people don't make it. An engineering degree from A&M is among the best in the nation. The Aerospace department is ranked very high nationaly and we have the opportunity to design and build actual spacecraft for NASA and the Air Force as part of extracurricular projects.

Student Body
The typical A&M student is middle-class, white and conservative. There are some liberals here, some blacks and hispanics but for the most part its white. Whether you think this is a good or bad thing is up to you, but cultural diversity is not A&M's strongest point. The University is working to try to attract more minorities but as that hasn't happened yet.

In Closing...
A&M is a place that is hard to describe in words. The atmosphere and the people are unique and unlike anywhere else I have ever been. Aggies share a bond and spirit that in unparalled among universities. Our rich traditions and history help to really enrich the college experience. A&M isn't for everyone but visiting is the best way to know. Once you come here, I doubt you'll want to leave. Thanks & "Gig'em!"
