Well... the food rocks
IntroductionSports and school spirit tend to be non-existent.
The party scene at Tufts it’s pretty basic, it tends at least in my experience, it tends to revolve around the frats most of the time and then off-campus houses, but a lot of people just pre-game, get drunk in the dorm before they go out and so I mean there are both aspects of it. To get alcohol at Tufts, you can always go to a party, a frat party off campus and they’re pretty willing to give you whatever your want.
Campus Life and Social LifeDorm I’m in, pretty nice, fairly big for a freshman room. It’s a double. But bathrooms are probably the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen, but it could just be that I’m on one of the few all-male floors at Tufts. So no one really cleans up the bathroom, no one cleans up after themselves, but inside the rooms it’s generally a nice place.
The food at Tufts is really good. They make great stuff all the time. For the freshman meal plan, it’s an unlimited meal plan so you can eat as much as you want, whenever you want, which gets kind of disgusting at times and you kind of want to limit yourself. There are a few area restaurants that you can use your dining dollars at like Dominos pizza is the only one I really do at because they’re open the latest.
AcademicsThere’s definitely a big interest at Tufts to join a lot of clubs, of which there are a lot of diverse choices.
One of the reasons why I chose Tufts was the face that you could be in a suburban area outside the city, yet still have all the resources of Boston. All the concerts the bars, the nightlife, without actually having to live in the hustle and bustle.
You can definitely meet people from other colleges, hanging out at BU parties. My least favorite thing might be the social scene just a little bit because I mean it tends to be somewhat isolated and focused more—or on-campus there’s not that much to do on Friday, Saturday nights.
Student BodyI currently can’t have a car as a freshman and I don’t think I’d want one anyway, just because I’m not used to city driving and I guess it’s a lot safer for me to take the T as opposed to driving drunk everywhere like late at nights. Next year, as a sophomore you can have a car, but I still don’t think I’ll be bringing one. I’ll just rely on friends for rides.
In Closing...I wish I would have known how many people are actually from Massachusetts at Tufts. It seems to be so many people here who are just from in-state and live 20 minutes away. And I kind of would have liked to know that there are that many people who are just living here all the time.
