Pace yourself....
IntroductionTo be honest, I don’t think Tulane attracts the best crowd of people from NY. I had never even been to the deep south before. I had been to Orlando and Miami, but that doesn’t really count.
Campus Life and Social LifeKids slow down once they’ve been here for awhile. It’s not really a novelty anymore. Actually a couple of kids have overdosed since I’ve been here. If you’re caught using drugs on campus, you have to go see a substance abuse counselor and she determines whether you need to have more counseling. They really do try to protect their students as best they can here. We have TEMS, Tulane Emergency Medical Service, which is students running and ambulance Service and they are a lot of the time are called when people have had too much to drink.

AcademicsI’ve taken A-A Art, A-A dance, my history of Jazz class is included in my major, so it’s really a wide variety of classes. My course load has basically been taking whatever sounds interesting to me. Really the only time you’re going to get a huge class is if you’re in an intro class like psych 101 or a Calc class. Those are bigger classes. You really do get individual attention at Tulane. One of my favorite professors is now my advisor for my major. And professors do get really involved. Professors really do care about what you’re doing.
Student BodyI’ve encountered a decent amount of racism ever since I’ve been down here and it’s just a lot more out in the open down here. It’s not something you experience on a daily basis. It is not that open in NY.
In Closing...Basically everyone here drinks for the most part, I think when people get down here they go crazy because it’s so easy to drink and it’s so easy to go out with people and meet new people by going out to a bar with them.
