City School in Sad City
IntroductionI picked Akron because it was close to where I was living at the time. Also, they had a good department for the major I was studying in. Students that should stay away from Akron include those that are looking for a traditional, picturesque, small school with an old and charming campus.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe sports teams have all done well during my tenure here at Akron. They have nice new facilities and the spirit is pretty good. Weekends tend to be a little deserted, due to there being a lot of commuters at the school.

AcademicsDepartments that are strong include: engineering (polymer and chemical, especially), mathematics, education, and sculpture. Workload seems to be a bit less than the other 4-year school I went to.
Student BodyTypical student seems to be a commuter from a nearby bureau of Akron. It seems like a lot of people still live with their folks, within 30-45 minutes from Akron. Most students are into the same things other people their age are into: computers, music, sports, the opposite sex...
In Closing...Akron has raised it's tuition for the last 5 years in a row (possibly more). Now it's one of the highest-priced public schools in Ohio. In addition, parking permits are $125 a semester and it is sometimes hard to find a space. There is a lot of construction going on around campus right now also.
