Go Zips

Rating: 1/5 (52 ratings)
Introduction
The campus has gone from awful to amazing in about 5-10 years. it's only going to get better, especially with the new football stadium and new dorms being built. go in with an open mind but you might be surprised how much you like it.

Campus Life and Social Life
Off campus parties can be pretty cool, houses are all within walking distance and it's relatively safe, for being in a decent size city. Zips sports are getting better, with football and basketball finally getting national recognition. games are a blast to go to, especially basketball. tailgating is fun for football, but it will only get better with an on campus stadium in 2009. weekends are usually hit or miss. there's always something going on, but with so many people living close to their parents homes, you might notice your friends going home some weekends. but there is never a shortage of parties you could find yourself at.

Academics
depends on your department. if you're into engineering, they are awesome, some of the best in the country. there are many opportunities in political science, sociology, and other liberal arts majors, with plenty of connections as far as lining up jobs. the business school is nationally ranked and always pumps out great graduates. TA's are only really seen in the lowest level classes and do not teach all that much, but they mainly lead discussions. Profs are pretty good for the most part.

Student Body
very diverse population, similar to the above, there's always something to do, intramurals, clubs, sporting events, greek life, and more.

In Closing...
an easy decision to make, Akron is growing in all of the right directions. plus it's ten times better than that lame school in kent.
