Why not to come to UA?
IntroductionIf you're from an upper-class conservative republican family and have parents in the Greek system, you'll fit right in. Money talks. I mean, hey, it is a university. If you're not part of that description, then there's not a lot that Alabama can offer you.
Campus Life and Social LifeLike I said, if you want to go Greek, this place is for you. It's your typical college campus. There's nothing worth doing unless you have a fifth in your posession. If you're not into drinking, expect to spend many Friday nights alone in your dorm.
As for sports, the athletic department pretty much has complete say over everything that goes on. Your jocks always tend to have straight As even when they sleep in class. But still, there's nothing like cheering Roll Tide on Saturdays.

AcademicsI can only speak for the history and journalism departments. But in the history department, they tend to go for professors out of the Ivy League. And only the cruel and stuck-up kind. Not to mention that two of the meanest teach the two core history classes required for all students.
The workload all depends on what you want out of college. If you're very studious, you've always got homework. And if you prefer not to do all that work, somehow you still end up doing decently.
Even the teachers from the Ivy League tend to pass out grades arbitrarily. They're all corrupt.
I should mention that there isn't a single TA that can speak English here.
Student BodyThe typical student is a conservative, truck-driving frat boy and dumb blonde sorority girls. Or a jock. Don't expect to fit in if you don't fall into one of those categories. They don't want you at "their" school. They'll even tell you that to your face and call you a GDI.
In Closing...Seriously, daddy's money runs this place. It's the good ole boy system where he who has the largest bank account rules. Including the athletic department's. It's unfair to students who bust their butts to get through a school with the namesake of The University of Alabama.
