Not Crazy Liberal

Introduction
My Engineering experience is pretty tough. The competition’s rough. I feel like a lot of the engineers here, compared to other schools, all focus on studying and I guess you could say that’s a bad thing, but they’re devoted to what they study. I guess it’s hard for me because I try to do other stuff as well and I’m not as devoted so it’s been tough for me, but the professors are great and I learn a lot in classes. I’m taking a DECAL right not. It’s the Calling DECAL which is finding your vocation. It has a Christian perspective but it’s basically about how you think of the Calling in life and what a vocation actually is.

Campus Life and Social Life
A lot of people say since Berkeley is so liberal you wouldn’t find really Christian conservative groups out there, but there tends to be a lot. I feel like Berkeley campus is more accepting for all types of people. People say, “oh this person’s weird,” everyone at Berkeley’s pretty weird. They have something awkward about them or they have a quirk about them, and you’ll always find a little niche that you can get into. It doesn’t matter if you were a high school nerd or cheerleader, if you were a jock. I feel like you can find some kind of group that you can belong to. Academics
My favorite bum is an old Black guy named Rosco and he’s the most charismatic guy and he’ll try to befriend you. But in the end, you end up giving him $20 and you don’t know why, but he’s just a cool guy. I expected there to be a lot of people on Telegraph and I expected it to be kind of dirty. But then I like it because it’s very “College Town.” With the upperclassmen, we’re always trying to befriend the freshmen because we get too lazy to cook at home so we have the freshmen swipe us in all the time. As long as it’s prepared and it’s free, I’m down.

Student Body
The city of Berkeley is very convenient in finding all types of food and for a cheap price. It’s also very fast. For example, we have Gypsy’s. It’s an Italian restaurant. It’s basically a kind of fast food, but it’s one of the best Italian foods I’ve tasted. We have Top Dog, which is a very good hot dog stand, we have Blondie’s and Fat Slice, which are pizza places. Crepes-a-go-go is a crepe place.
