the truth about UC Irvine

Rating: 1.2/5 (40 ratings)
Introduction
If you want to be miserable.. choose this school.

Campus Life and Social Life
In order to have a social life, here at wonderful UCI, you are going to have to work really hard to do so. I was really involved in my high school and I thought I would be able to make friends easily, but I was wrong. Pretty much the only people that are sociable are people in the greek system, and if you don't get into that right away then you are basically done for. Everyone else is pretty much mute. I complained all last year to my parents about how quiet it was in the dorms and they never believed me until they came to visit me a couple months into the school year. They walked around and said, "wow.. it is really quiet here.." You have to work really hard to meet people here, it's just not a friendly atmosphere.

Academics
To be honest, I have really enjoyed every single one of my classes. It's pretty sad that the only thing I am enjoying about college is my classes. The professors are really great- very liberal. The workload is pretty much what you want it to be- you can study in Gateway for hours, or you can just try and meet the curves.

Student Body
Quiet Asians. They have an awesome sense of style, but tend to form cliques of only Asian groups. They pass out fliers to social events only to other Asian people. Not very nice..

In Closing...
Don't be fooled by the campus, it is gorgeous. The school aspect is great, but the social life sucks.
