Get a Feel for the Campus!

Introduction
Visiting the campus is so important. You should get a feel for the campus and determine if you can see yourself there for the four plus years. When I was considering colleges, I visited a few schools that I knew weren't for me. However, when I visited UCLA, I felt right at home. I could see myself being challenged, but could also see that I would still be able to have fun. If you disregard academics and just want to party, this isn't the school for you.

Campus Life and Social Life
There are so many things to do so you can find whatever you are interested in or feel like. If not on campus, there are places to go in Westwood. You can go clubbing, watch a movie, go out to eat, or do whatever. The best part about the social life here is the variety and that there is so much to do, as long as you want to. However, at the same time, remember to balance school with fun. Advertisement
Academics
The school's academics are challenging, but not unmanageable. Since UCLA is a research university, you might want to keep in mind that some professors care more about their research than their students. UCLA is competitive, but at the same time, the students here aren't so cut-throat. UCLA has a very strong Communications Studies, Film, Engineerring, and Business Economics/Accounting program.

Student Body
There is such a variety at UCLA that there is no "typical" student. I believe that whatever your personality, you are most likely to find someone that you can get along with and have common interests with. The thing that most students have in common is their concern over their academics.

In Closing...
UCLA is a great school, and it has so much to offer. Visit the campus and get a feel for the real classroom setting/dormlife/social scene. If you can really see yourself growing, learning, and being challenged while at the same time having fun, UCLA should be the school for you. You should really think about a fit for you, and not depend as much on the ranking of the university.
