Home in a Sorority
Rating: 2.1/5 (50 ratings)
IntroductionI joined a sorority and they made me feel at home right away.
Campus Life and Social LifeI definitely think there’s a huge sense of fashion here in LA and I find myself getting swept into that sometimes and its fun. Once I got to UCLA there was so much to choose from and I was really excited to find the sailing team which is random but UCLA has it, they have everything. That’s the nice thing about UCLA, its so close to the beach, so close to the mountains, I have friends on the ski and snowboarding team and I’m on the sailing team and I could be on both if I wanted to, that’s the beautiful thing about California.
AcademicsI’ve taken two classes with Jared Diamond whose a Pulitzer Prize winner. And he is an amazing lecturer, very intelligent man and he’s inspiring to listen to. At UCLA we have BruinWalk, its an online survey where students can actually rate the professors. And you can go online before signing up for classes and ask about your professor and ask other students and get students opinion on a professor so you don’t get stuck with an awful one.
Student BodyUCLA generally clears out on the weekends. I’d say it more of a weekday school. Most of our events happen Monday, Thursday nights all throughout the week. And then most people go home or travel on the weekends. UCLA tends to have Thursday night parties where the Frats will through these huge parties and decorations all out.
In Closing...UCLA tends to hire a lot of research professors, which is the difficult part because a lot of times tend to focus more on their research than the students.
