UC Paradise

Rating: 3/5 (92 ratings)
Introduction
It is a paradise, maybe not necessarily the school, but like the ocean and everything that’s around it. I think Golita and I.V., it gets a little dirty once in a while, cause there’s so many students and gets so compacted, but it’s a good time, and then, if you go to Santa Barbara, there’s so many pretty places around here, it’s definitely, like a paradise.

Campus Life and Social Life
It’s so beautiful; I think the bluffs are my favorite place. It over looks the ocean; there’s just land and it’s no housing on it. I like to just run up there. The mountains are one way, the oceans the next. It’s definitely the prettiest place I’ve ever been. I think for a lot of people here, it’s hard to be motivated. As a 5th year senior, I think I’ve learned what I have to do to get an A and I don’t do much past that. Since I run track, I’m on a schedule every day so it’s a lot easier for me as opposed to someone who has a really open, flexible schedule.

Academics
They make the pre-communication classes pretty difficult to weed out people and make it more competitive, you have to get a 3.0, but once you get in the major, it’s really not that bad. I would definitely say the Pre-Com classes were a lot harder than once I got in. And a lot of it is theory based – because all the Universities are theory based – so were relearning theories. So, by the end you at least heard of a theory and then it gets repeated in another class, so you become very familiar with what they’re talking about.

Student Body
It’s kind of what you make of it – like, you can go to a party every night – but you don’t have to. And like, I guess you just have to decide what your priorities are. You have to make sure you can do school and stay in school cause I think that’s the most important thing. But if you want to come to a good party, you can definitely come to SB and have a pretty good time.

In Closing...
It’s actually pretty expensive to live in Santa Barbara but it is comparable I’d say to LA and stuff too. These apartments that I’m living in are through the school, and I pay 360.00 a month to share with a roommate – 380.00 I think – and that’s a pretty good deal. If you want your own room in a house with 10 girls, you’re probably going to pay about 600.00.
