Kick ass and Kicks ass

IntroductionI was a really good student in high school and thought that CU was below my level. WAS I WRONG. To this day i am getting my butt kicked in the business school- most every class is a million times harder then i imagined. Not to mention, there are many many temptations. Make sure you are confident that you can balance school and partying. Freshman year was the wildest of my four.
Campus Life and Social LifeWorst- lack of diversity. As in any college, there are kids from all walks of life, but the amount of rich white kids is a little overwhelming at times... Football games are the time of your life. The CSU football game is absolutely amazing- especially since we usually win :) Partying is a seven day a week activity for some, but balancing it out is really important and REALLY hard. Club wise, because of the big school atmosphere there are clubs for every interest. One of my regrets is not joining something earlier. (College Dems woooo!)

AcademicsI am in the business school- the Core classes can be difficult or easy, and having 400+ kids in those classes makes it difficult to be really involved. However, there are wonderful teachers in some of these classes. I highly recommend the Management program- my first management teacher inspired me to change my major. Accounting and finance are HARD. GET A TUTOR because with huge classes, the TAs and teachers get swamped.
Student BodyWeekends are filled with day partying, outdoor activities, sleeping in, shopping, concerts- basically anything you can imagine. Pearl street has a great bar scene if you are in to that. The bus to Denver is SO easy if you wanna hit bars down there or go to a concert/sporting event. Great shows come to the FOX theater on the hill. Very intimate and absolutely ridiculous. I guess the worst part is having too many options. Sunday comes around and you wanna get over your hangover, not study!
In Closing...What i would like to add is that this is the most beautiful place on the planet. The overall feeling here is really laid back and accepting. There are all types of people with many different interests, and i have personally never seen anyone in a class act inconsiderate to anyone else. I really do think the exception to this rule is the greek community. Those in it love it, so not to completely dis it, it really works for some people. But after seeing many friends feel hurt and let down by their "sisterhood", it does seem that sororities and frats are a good way to make high school last forever here at CU. There are thousands of wonderful people here. Don't feel like you have to go into the greek system to fit in. And having your own house..... amazing. Isn't it time you make your own living rules?
