Come to UCONN
IntroductionUCONN is everything you could want in a college. It has really shot up in the past few years in terms of academics. The campus has been overhauled with a ton of brand new buildings. It is really just a great place to be. If you're looking to come to UCONN don't be intimidated about the size. I was worried about going to a big school but trust me, you get the hang of it in a few days. Make sure you're able to stay focused and realize that you're actually here to go to school. There's so much stuff to do, you sometimes forget why you're here.
Campus Life and Social LifeObviously the big draw of UCONN is the HUSKIES!!!! Sports is a very big part of the social life at UCONN because all the games are so much fun. There's plenty of transportation available to football games (the stadium is off campus). If you're lucky enough to get the tickets, basketball season is basically the best time you'll ever have. There's always a ton of parties on the weekends and there's also a lot of shows that come here, concerts, comedians, etc. It's really not hard to find something to do.

AcademicsAcademics here actually suprised me. I expected it to be a cake walk but it was actually a little challenging, which is nice. Professors do a really good job of trying to acclimate their students to the college way of teaching. Most of your gen-ed classes are big lectures, which I think is better sometimes. Once you get into more specified classes the, size dwindles down and it's easy to get help if you need it. UCONN is also recognized as a great school (especially in education, business, pharmacy, and many other majors) and it was listed as one of the top schools in the Northeast by Princeton Review. A degree from here will serve you well.
Student BodyThe typical student at UCONN is definately from Connecticut. Virtually every high school kid from CT applies to UCONN so they accept a very high amount of in state students, but there are also 15,000 people here so it's hard to narrow the population down that much. Pretty much everyone falls into the "jock" stereotype, the gym is always packed, a lot of people do intramurals, and the stadiums are always full. People here are generally really nice and there are plenty of people so i'm sure you'll meet someone you like.
In Closing...UCONN is great. They have everything you could ever want in a college. I haven't met too many people who wouldn't agree with me in that statement.
