Word from an RA
IntroductionI visted colleges and universities, but when I first stepped on the UD's campus, I told my mom, "I want to go here." The campus is beautiful, and until you visit, you really would not know what it was like. If your mission in life is to party hard, you can do that here. If you want a quiet college life, you can still do that here too. UD has things for everyone, but just know that if you party hard, be prepare to work hard and also be smart about it. You do not want to be one of the students that ends up at the Christiana Emergency Room after a rough night.
Campus Life and Social LifeWell, The UD's football stadium is alway packed during the game. The student section is really awesome. The other sports aren't well advertised even though the students who play those sports are great sportsmen. There are hundreds of clubs for you to get involved in, and if you can't find something that matched your interest, as long as you have 5 other people, you can make it an official UD club. Well, students do drink and do have fun drink, just don't be stupid about it. To decrease the number of students that end up in the ER (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights), the University is putting a ban on any item use for rapid consumption of alcohol. That means that Beer Pong Tables are banned in the dorms even if you are 21. Another thing about the University is that unless you are living in a dry dorms, (don't worry, there is not too many of those, in fact only one upperclassman dorm), you are allowed to drink in your room. If you are drinking underage, please be care and responsible, you are more likely to get into trouble when you are being irresponsible. Greek life, don't know much about it. Advice to those that do not like to drink, it's ok. There are clubs that are geared towards those who do not drink. Plus, you remember more about of your college life, and nights when you are not shit faced.

AcademicsAlmost all of my classes have been taught by the professors. They are awesome people and I have not had one who wasn't willing to help. Classes are no joke, so take things seriously, especailly Calculus. I know people who have taken that class many times over. Also watch out for the Chem class, the curve is low for a reason, a lot of people fail the class. The professors are not going to lower their standards because people are failing, this is your responsibility. To change this, go to office hours, if you can't make office hours, as for one on one time with your professor, and also know that each department offer tutors (students who have survive the class with an A). Research is fun to do, know that there are many national companies located in Delaware, and you can obtain a research opportunity with these companies that could potentially end up in a career.
Student BodyThis is not a HBCU, if you are expecting it to be, you are in for a shock. The are many ethnic groups here. The campus is safe, in fact UD prides itself on the measures they take to ensure student saftey. We are located in a center of a town, the majority of the population in this town are not affliated with the University. Y
In Closing...The dorms are awesome, because they tore down some of the old ugly dorms, and built more spaciuos freshman and upperclass dorms. Go to the univeristy's website to check out the tuition and fees.
Remember that college is what you make of it, and visit any college before attending, and do not do it on scheduled days. Either way, you will be impressed by the university's campus.
