The Social School

Rating: 2/5 (69 ratings)
Introduction
UF is Football. Everything in the town is orange and blue, everything is Gators. Everywhere you go there’s a Gator shop. Everyone’s wearing Gator Gear all the time. People paint their chests orange and blue, paint our face orange and blue, people hold signs, run around. If you hate football then you’re at the wrong school. Football is just such a big part of the University of Florida.

Campus Life and Social Life
You’re in such a close knit group when you’re in the Greek community and if you’re in a sorority, you have 100 friends automatically. They’re all your friends and that’s the truth, they really are, they’re all one big group and it’s fun, it’s a lot of fun.

Academics
I’m a telecom news major. I just spent 20 hours this week doing things whether it’s editing, shooting. A lot of the courses you’ll find are online: Micro econ, Macro econ, and you can do that from your house so a lot of people sleep through their classes because it’s hard to wake up when you’re in such a college town. That’s the one thing, it’s hard wake up the next morning after you go out because every night of the week is a party night at the University of Florida.

Student Body
My freshman year at UF I lived in Broward. Broward is the best dorm to live in because it is in the middle of everything. It’s a central location, you’re right by Broward Dining. That’s where you gain the freshman 15. It’s as social dorm. Broward is a social dorm, Jennings is a social dorm, a lot of people live in Beatty- it’s more of an apartment style dormitory. A lot of people live in Rowlings. It’s great to live on campus your first year. However, at UF, after your freshman year, you don’t live in the dorms. You move to an apartment complex and there are so many fun different apartment complexes around the University that are less than a mile away.

In Closing...
You meet tons of people. It’s the best time- you don’t have to worry about parking, you don’t have to worry about riding the bus because everything is on campus. It’s a giant campus, but everything is right there.
