The Time of Your Life

Introduction
Honestly, I didn't want to come to UF. It was my back-up back-up back-up school. How did I end up here? Well New York was too cold and NYU was too expensive, New Orleans seemed to out there for me, and Miami well... again too expensive. UF is the best school in the state of Florida (don't just take my word for it, look at the stats) and it's cheap. This school is huge so anyone who is looking for an intimate setting should not come here.

Campus Life and Social Life
I never lived in a dorm so I can't comment on that but I do know that I have met my two best friends living in an apartment. What I can say though, is that I would recommend living in a dorm. No one that I have ever met has regretted it. The worst part about campus life is the parking and the bureaucracy. There are 1.5 parking permits given for every parking space. That alone explains all the parking problems. What I mean by the bureaucracy of UF, is that this school is very old and very set in stone with its policies. It is very hard to change things that many students have a problem with. So bascially if you don't like some UF policy you can try and fight it but it's going to be a long uphill battle that will probably end up in failure... sorry.

As far as the social scene goes: it's pretty great. We're not in the top 10 party schools in the country for no reason. There is something to do every night of the week (except Sunday). Because the undergraduate student body changes every year, the clubs usually change too. The ones that you can always count on though are Monday at Swamp and Wednesday at XS and Gator City. Thursday is a HUGE night for downtown and Tuesday Fat Tuesdays is usually pretty good. The best time of year OF COURSE is Fall because of football season. If you aren't a Gator Fan when you come to UF you will most likely be one before you leave. Gator Football isn't just a sport, it is a culture at UF. Alumni come from ALL OVER THE COUNTRY for the Gator games. RV's start showing up on campus on the Thursday before a game. It's amazing and I wouldn't trade it for the world! Thats why they say Gators bleed Orange and Blue. Academics
In the past few years UF has gone through great lengths to make the school a Top 10 Public University. The 2006 incoming class is supposed to be one of the best incoming classes (even though I think '04 was the best). The classes are not easy and you have to watch out during football season. Most freshman don't do that great their first semester because they don't know how to balance the social scene with the academics. Balance is key!

Student Body
There is no "typical" school at UF. It's pretty diverse.

In Closing...
UF is amazing. I have spent some of the best years of my life here and have never regretted coming here. GO GATORS!
