Top Notch Academics

Introduction
I attended what we call here at UF, Preview. It’s an orientation to student life here at the University, and the people at Preview are just so friendly, they’re so informative, they help you get all the info that you need to survive your first semester here at UF. The football culture is year-round. The season may be from August to Jan. 1st but it’s all year round here. Football players are treated like Gods.

Campus Life and Social Life
Student life is so diverse at UF. Our student government funds and sponsors over 650 student organizations anywhere from the Archer Club to the Shooting Club, to University Gospel Choir, anything. Right now one of my biggest achievements since being at UF is that during Black History Month I brought in Bill Russell who is a 11 time NBA title winner and such a great man with a lot of great achievements, brought in Russell Simmons who started the whole hip hop collective. And met these guys and talked to them. Controlling something like that, such a powerful even or series of events- Black History Month 2004 was a collection of 60+ events and we had a budget of about $75,000 and I was in control of that. So I actually got to put our dollars to work. Advertisement
Academics
Academics at this university is a part of the AAU, which is the American Association of Universities and there are only 62 universities in this assoc. with the likes of Duke, Harvard, big schools like that and the academics here is top notch. We’re not just a research institution, we’re not just a football institution, we’re an institution that is balanced.

Student Body
The city of Gainsville is a college town. When there are breaks at UF, you can tell the city is dead without our students. Basically everyone caters to students. You can go out every night except Sunday here. Monday you can get adult beverages at Swamp, Wed-Sat. is more of a nightclub night.

In Closing...
My philosophy is that if you study hard and work hard, then you can go out and play hard.
