Clique-ey but nice!

Rating: 3/5 (57 ratings)
Introduction
Football is in-SANE. The first football game I went to was against Georgia Southern and I was just like, astonished like the stadium was absolutely full and everyone was cheering. I don’t like football but I loved being there. It was wonderful.

Campus Life and Social Life
The streets were crowded with just drunk people everywhere no lie, there was people laying in the lawn, drunk, bottles of beer everywhere. It was insane but, definitely a shocker. But, you get used to it. I don’t drink but – easy access – you can get it anywhere; you don’t have to be of age. It’s crazy, but the social life is great – you have to know how to balance everything. Usually my friends and I hangout downtown; Insomnia, 346, Tastyworld, you just have to know how to balance everything out. We have campus transit – the bus comes every 10 – 15 minuets, riding your bike, you see people roller blade-ing also – a great way to stay fit.
Academics
That’s one of the main reasons I chose Georgia because they have a wide range of majors like there’s so many majors it’s ridiculous – genetics, biology, food, anything you could possibly think of it’s here at UGA. Initially my major was genetics and Chemistry – that’s why I changed my major so soon but I’m psychology now and I love it and I’m really excited about hopefully going to law school. Procrastination: first semester that threw me off. Definitely know how to balance it. Your schoolwork comes first – that’s why you’re here – it’s good to have fun but you cant let your friends or peer pressure get to you cause then you’ll end up hopeless and that’s not a good thing. What I’ve learned to do is – my agenda that’s been my best friend this semester. I’ve planned everything out and I’m very anal about that stuff and organized and I make sure that everything that need to be done is done and then Friday, Saturday, Thursday do a little partying. The biggest thing for me was the class size because initially wanted to go to a really small school so being here was overwhelming but you really have to make an effort to get out there – sit in the front row, try to talk to your teacher before and after class, go to office hours, just make use of all that stuff cause like I’m in a class of 300 students and my psychology teacher knows my name and he can say Hey Dominique, what’s the answer to that? – And everyone’s like what? He knows your name? You have to take the time out to get out there and so that’s the most challenging thing.

Student Body
I absolutely LOVE it. I didn’t CHOOSE it. I wanted to be with guys – but girls? They’re great. I have to say there are 22 girls on out hall and we are so close and it’s the best experience ever. I would recommend all freshmen staying in a freshman dorm. All girls, unisex, whatever. You’re going through something with everyone there and you can share experiences and really bond and I love it. We live in a box – it’s a box – like, I can reach over and I’m touching my roommate. It’s crazy but it’s all a compromise and you learn to share and trust and again it’s a great experience. The bathrooms - wow – that took some getting used to. Every girl needs their own bathroom – it’s very clean and you learn to get used to it and get up in the middle of the night and run down the hall and use the bathroom and do your hair and make-up, like 50 other girls, but in the end it’s a great experience

In Closing...
I have to admit it’s very clique-ish, you have, of course Greek life, and you have your athletes football players, your basketball players your cheerleaders you dancers – I’m a dancer – to me it just like high school but then you know every once in a while the groups break up and you’re all one but it’s very clique-ey.
