Food better than Mom's
IntroductionThere’s always music going on campus or movies playing at the Tate Center or there are always functions at Broadway beach. Especially for freshman they’re always things to get to know – you know you’re freshman class or things like that – of course your athletics is always on campus – football, basketball, everything. As far as academics wise – there are academic tutoring sessions, everything you could need on campus. Football is Georgia – Saturdays this whole campus is full with tailgaters and people coming from all over the country. I didn’t know how big it was until that first Saturday – that was my first game – which is so exciting when I woke up and there was just noise outside and people were all on the lawn tailgating and stuff like that – the football team is there great, I hang out with those guys all the time. Yeah, they are superstars on campus but they’re just everyday guys. I go downtown and chill with them or whatever – I mean football is Georgia. It’s a major part of Georgia.
Campus Life and Social LifeWe have 4 dining halls on campus – Bolton, Snelling, O House and ECV- they’re all kind of different – the food is good the thing I like is you can to any dining hall when they’re open as many times as you like. They have a wide variety of things – everything from breakfast to lunch they have Mexican stuff, Italian stuff, hamburgers and hotdogs and dinner they have different stuff for lunch and dinner – it’s not the same thing – they have different things everyday. So you don’t get tired of it, so the food is good though. I love the meal plan, that’s also one of the reasons why I love Georgia. I think it’s like 3rd best in the states and the food is so great and also that’s why I try to stay on campus as long as possible because the food is so awesome – there’s so many choices there’s vegetarian stuff - they also have these special dinners sometimes where they’ll get Salmon or lobster and the food lady’s – their really nice too and there’s 4 different dining halls you can go to and all of them, each has their own little benefits – you know Bolton is good for Breakfast and Snelling is good for dinner and I like ECV for lunch and you know you can make – they have omelets all day, you can get – the salad bars huge - always they have pizza it’s great. The food here – I honestly like the food here better than my mom’s. Sorry Mom.
AcademicsMy major’s pre-pharmacy, and it’s a hard major because you have to take chemistry and organic chemistry and it’s been kind of rumored that organic chemistry is kind of the hardest class on campus – and I’ll be taking that next year so I’m kinda scared. But coming in Freshman year – it’s a big adjustment, because you go from high school where you have the same classes every day and so you know you have to do your homework that night but here you have a Monday, Wednesday, Friday class and I’ll be like I can do my homework Tuesday night – instead of Monday night and so it’s a big adjustment with homework and things like that – but if you prioritize your time and your organized you can do it but you just have to get adjusted to it. I was very organized I was you know, class president and National Honor Society – I guess coming from high school, being organized and being able to keep up on my time wisely – it wasn’t that hard for me – again it was an adjustment but I mean you can do it. I had dance rehearsals at night, so I knew that after my classes I would go straight to my room and study cause I had dance practice at night so it’s feasible, it’s very feasible – I mean it can be done – it’s all on that person and their schedule and how bad they really want it – I mean there’s some people that just they don’t care they’re not gonna study so it’s all on a personal level with that. Georgia – I mean their criteria got harder – I mean it’s getting harder because the people are you know getting smarter I guess, but I was and A, B student, you know I had a pretty good SAT score and I was involved in clubs in school – in high school – so I would say it was a challenge – it wasn’t an easy ride – I mean I had to work for it. Again it’s very possible for anybody to do.
Student BodyThere is diversity but I mean of course the minorities are significantly less students. There is diversity. It’s not like I don’t see any African Americans or Mexicans or Hispanics, I mean you see everybody, everyday so there is diversity but of course the ratio is still there. Greek life I think is 18% on campus – it kind of seems more than it really is because they’re just around – I don’t know – Greek life is pretty loud so you see them but they’re really nice. It really cool because on Millage they have an entire row full of the different sororities and fraternities and they have really cool parties and the fraternities always invite whoever wants to go to the parties, especially if you’re a girl you can always get in and they’re always fun.
In Closing...Getting into Georgia has become more challenging recently – I got in early admissions it wasn’t too complicated and so far Freshman sophomore year you’re pretty much getting the core out of the way so it’s like 300 people classrooms and I don’t find it personally difficult yet but I know when it comes down to the major it’ll be more challenging.
