Sad Transfer

Rating: 4/5 (96 ratings)
Introduction
U of H is the type of school you go to if you DON'T want the college experience. Most of the people don't have school pride. Most of the students go to class and go home. It's a good school academically, so you need to be prepared for its challenges. If you're a party person, stay away! If you desire a social life, stay away! If you want to go to college and not just "attend classes", stay away! However, if you wanna go to school and good education in Houston, TX it's your best bet!

Campus Life and Social Life
Personally I find the campus life on a scale of 1-10 to be a -3. You might be ok if you stay on campus or "go greek", but most of the students live off campus all over the city of Houston. School events are not well attended either. Compared to my old school which only had a basketball team, the campus life sucks. To top it off, I went to a small school and everyone came to everything, UH has 40,000 people and there were still seats in the stands.

Academics
Academically it's excellent. However, personally I don't like large classes. The teacher won't know you and they're not as easy to reach. There's minimal interaction with the professors. The TA's are your better option. In some classes, they actually teach the class. That's not something I was used to at my previous school. However, like I said, it's probably the best school in Houston. They really prepare you.

Student Body
Yesterday I sneezed in a room full of 400 people and only 5 of them said "Bless you". So, needless to say they aren't very friendly. Also, half the student body smokes, which I find highly unattractive. I wish I could give a more personalized description, but the school's so huge, I don't know anybody.

In Closing...
Hey, you might love it, but it's not for me. I'm not here by choice.
