The Real UH

Rating: 1/5 (67 ratings)
Introduction
The biggest advice I would give a high school student is do not fool yourself into thinking that UH is a bad school. It is one of the greatest (academically), so do not put it at the bottom of your list if you are a high achiever. I choose it because I wanted to be near home. If you plan to go to school to party, you should stay away. If you are biased towards a certain group of people, then stay away. If you plan to miss a lot of school, stay away.

Campus Life and Social Life
I'm a partier, and I go OTHER places to party. And lets face it. UH sports SUCK.

Academics
All the departments are great except Communications which sucks and set up so that you can fail. Proffessors are 50/50. Half of them are nice and willing to help, while the other half hates the world and all the people in it. So if you get a bad one, switch professors. TA's are the best ones to go to when you need assistance with anything.

Student Body
Their is no typical student at UH. Everyone here is diverse. The students are from different backgrounds and cultures. Most are into learning and getting out of school. all are willing to help.

In Closing...
There is a true misconception about UH. Most people believe it is down there with Texas Southern, but it isn't. It is a great school, with a diverse group of people and the money (financial aide) is GREAT.
