Home of the Fighting Illini!
IntroductionThe University of Illinois offers a home-like atmosphere away from home. There are so many options of different majors, minors, concentrations, activities, extracurricular activities, groups, student organizations, etc. We have the largest Greek system in the nation! There are many different Frats and Sororities, including academic-oriented ones. And the surrounding Champaign-Urbana area offers a variety of different things to keep you occupied or employed. The university is great for a variety of students with all sorts of personalities. It's probably not the best place for a student from a larger city who hates to be away from home, though.
Campus Life and Social LifeSocial life on this campus is phenomenal! The Champaign bar-entry age is 19 and in Urbana it's 18, so those just joining the community can freely hang out with their older counterparts and enjoy the nightlife. There are always parties going on somewhere and you can always find something to do. Apartment complexes are relatively close to one another so you can remain close to friends.

AcademicsAll of the different colleges here at the University of Illinois are unique in their own way. LAS is the largest college in the University and the home of many many majors. The University is historically known for its Agriculture department. The ALS college is expanding and revamping itself to include other departments. The University is a great place to get a top notch education!
The professors are accessible 90% of the time and the TAs are generally very knowledgeable...though of course, there are always a few bad apples. Can't be perfect ALL of the time. But the workload, depending on your major, is definitely manageable.
Student BodyMost of our student base tends to be from the Chicago suburbs, but that doesn't mean we aren't also home to students from many other states on both coasts, and other countries as well. Anyone and everyone can find a way to fit in at the U of I. It really is an amazing university.
In Closing...Go Illini!
