KU SUCKS
IntroductionI chose KU basically because of the basketball team and to be far away from home. Let's just say that wasn't the best idea. You should stay away from KU if you enjoy staying active in events that are not related to school. The best fit student for KU would have to be lazy unless it comes to partying. Most likely being an alcoholic would make KU attractive. The anti-KU student would probably be someone who likes extracurricular activities and focusing on getting a good education.
Campus Life and Social LifeMy least favorite part of the KU life. I am extremely surprised to not see more obese people because no one is motivated to do anything. The intermurals are poorly set up and not very well advertised. To be involved in anything here, you need to have prior knowledge of the activity. No one reaches out to students and gives information to get involved. Partying is an art form at KU. Most students minor in it.

AcademicsThe academics are decent. If you went to high school, you will hear the EXACT information that you heard in your school. It seems like it would be possible to test out of enough classes to graduate. Like all colleges the teaching staff varies from extremely good to the teachers that know as much as you do. The Graduate Teaching Assistant program is amazing. Every class I have ever had with a GTA was phenominal because they put up with the system and know how the students feel. It seems to have paid off for them because the class teaches more than you could ask for. Many of the professors that have doctorates will fill your ears with huge words and extra sentences. You have to buy a filter for you ears to get to the real meaning of their lectures. As far as the departments go, Mathematics is awful beyond belief. Every single teacher is forgein and does not speak even decent English. So good luck adding "Juan pus Juan ewalls tooth". The Science department seems to have its head on straight with a combination of good teachers and TAs. The English department is my least favorite because of the approach it takes to writing. It values negativity and pessimistic thinking.
Student BodyStudents come from the Mid-West, mostly Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas and Iowa. Everyone here loves to party and get drunk. Not a night goes by that I don't hear sirens outside my window. People keep the police and other forms of law enforcement really busy. My least favorite part of KU is the fact that other than partying people do nothing else. I would guess around 2% of the campus is active at the recreation center. I am a very active person and the people in Lawrence have made me so distraught. It is like pulling teeth to get anything done other than cracking open a beer. "Typical" student is cruising on the money of their parents and getting an education in breaking the law.
In Closing...In regards to the departments, it may be viewed as he doesn't like the subjects he doesn't do well in but that is not the case. I love math but hate the program here. I also may be viewed as a student who isn't into the party scene and doesn't fit the profile of "a college student in 2006". It is definitely not the case, I love to have a good time but it is too much for anyone who isn't an alcoholic or slacker.
