Is it the place to be?
IntroductionI chose UK because, one, I live in Lexington so it was very convenient. I also knew a lot of people coming here. Plus its by far the best public university in the state. Most anyone would fit in well here.
Campus Life and Social LifeSocial life is definitely based around greek life, at least freshman year. If you don't join a fraternity or sorority, you better have a friend with a house to party at or you will have nothing to do on the weekends. This is especially true for guys because girls, of course, are always welcome at any party. Intramurals are really well run and fun, and there are tons of clubs so there's definitely stuff to do if you don't want to party.

AcademicsThe Math department is TERRIBLE. I havent had a professor or TA who speaks good English. The courses are all challenging. Dont take UK 101 if you are a freshman. I definitely feel like I am getting a good education.
Student BodyThe campus is pretty much divided into two seperate sections: South campus and North campus. South is full of the typical, average Jock, Greek-oriented, upper middle class people. North is more of the Art-sy crowd, and is definatly the more liberal side of campus. North campus people seem to find more things to do in the dorms while South campus people are always finding parties and such off campus.
In Closing...UK gets better the more you stick with it. Definitely live on campus your freshman year. If you don't join a frat or sorority, you may feel really bored first semester, but things go uphill after that. If you do join Greek life, there is defnitely something always goin on to keep you busy.
